For a while now, I’ve felt a little restricted funnelling my creative work through Super Sun Studios (previously Sun-Studios). Although I fully own the studio, it doesn’t always feel like the right banner for the more personal aspects of my creative journey. Super Sun Studios represents the body of work — the brand, the studio, the formal presentation of myself. But the full creative journey is intimate and messy. I realised I needed a space where I could share that side of it more openly.
So I built a new website.
Welcome to danielsun.art.
This space feels comfortable.
Here, I can get excited about a new project that might never lead anywhere. It doesn’t make sense to announce a dud project under Super Sun Studios — but here, I can announce as many dud projects as I like. This is a place where I can blog freely, go deep into nerdy software development, rant about Adobe, or write about my travels and how they fuel my creativity. It’s less about polished outcomes and more about the process itself.
Over the years, I’ve shifted further into freelance work and have contributed to a wide range of incredible projects. For example, I worked as a crew member on Bluey — not under Super Sun Studios, but simply as myself, contributing as an individual artist. That distinction matters. My career has grown beyond a single studio identity, and I want my portfolio to reflect that evolution.
This site is both a personal portfolio and something more. It’s a place to document the creative journey as it unfolds: the experiments, the lessons, the wins, and the frustrations. I finally feel comfortable returning to regular blog posts — sharing behind-the-scenes insights, project updates, and reflections on building a creative life. If Super Sun Studios is the banner, danielsun.art is the sketchbook — and I’m excited to open it up and let you look inside.
